Body and Son in the Winners Circle
September was a very exciting month in the world of BODY AND SON. We took home the prize for Best Narrative Short at the Atlanta Underground Film Festival, were one of ten winners in the inaugural Black Life Film Festival and our very own Alfeo Dixon snagged the trophy for Best Cinematography at the New York True Venture Film Festival. There we also picked up nominations for Best Child Actor (DJ Watts) and Best Director (Yours Truly).
The film had its first in-person, outdoor screening at AUFF and (despite a brief interruption thanks to some of Atlanta's loudest street racers) it was extremely well-received. I was the only filmmaker present at the screening from our block of shorts and was able to take some really great questions from the audience leading to a truly profound discussion on Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome.
October will bring more screenings and announcements regarding the film, so stay tuned!
